I am wanting Firefox to remember some of my passwords, but it doesn't ask me if I want it to anymore. I have checked and made sure I am not in Private Browsing and I'm not, and I have checked to make sure that remember passwords is checked in the options/security tab, and there are no websites listed in the exceptions. What can I do to get Firefox to give me the option to have my passwords saved?

Do you see names and passwords in the Password Manager window?
Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" (Show Passwords)

Rename key3.db and signons.sqlite (Firefox 3.5) and all signons#.txt files (if any exist, Firefox 3.0 uses signons3.txt) in the Profile_Folder.
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old , signons.sqlite.old , signons3.txt.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.

You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and you lose all your currently saved passwords.

If that has worked then you can remove the no longer needed renamed .old files.

If you see passwords in the Password Manager (Tools > Options > Security: Passwords > "Saved Passwords") then you can save the existing passwords with the Password Exporter extension before renaming the files and re-import them afterward.

Check that the exported (xml) file has all the names and passwords.

why is such a bs considered a solution ???

"you lose all your currently saved passwords".

and if that's the case, why making it more complicated than necessary - just say re-install!

sorry mate, but me and 51 unsatisfied readers at the time (May 2012) were looking for a solution and not more problems by been forced to retype hundreds of passwords!
