Running Firefox 4.0 on XP SP3. I use tabbed browsing. Every time I open a new tab - whether its with the + button or from a link in an existing tab, the first page opened in the new tab is not available in the list of previous pages (when using the back button). In fact, the back button is greyed out by the time you get to the second page. Every page after the first page is available with the back button.

Do you have the McAfee Site Advisor? That one has been reported as causing this problem for some people. If you have it try disabling it to see if the back button works.

If you do not have that add-on, use the procedure in the following link to see if another add-on is causing your problem - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

Yup, I think that fixed it. I had to restart firefox to check, but it worked. Thanks!
