My home page is set to Endohealth.co.nz. Since updating to V4 this page does not display and I am unable to access it on my PC or two laptops that have also been updated to Firefox 4. It does display properly on my W2000 Firefox 3.6.6 and on my daughters phone. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

The home page is blank on opening. It is also blank if I call up the site. There are no messages at all. Refresh has no result. I have been using Firefox exclusively for years with no problems.

Is your home page a web page from internet (http://) or is that the new build-in about:home home page?

It is a website of about 90 page files which I have had for more than ten years. I have tried to display it in Wamp Server but that too just comes up totally blank. How do I go back to a previous version of Firefox to confirm that it it is a Firefox problem? I have no problem displaying any other site I have tried. The home page is displaying correctly on a Vista laptop running Firefox 3.6.16.

Hi there. I am having the exact same problem since "upgrading" to Firefox 4 on both my IBM compatible and Macbook Pro. I built two websites using Moonfruit. After the upgrade, I could not access either site; just a blank page comes up. I was able to find an older version of Firefox 3.6 and reinstalled it on my IBM and suddenly everything worked again.

Separarely, I installed Firefox 4 as a new browser on my Macbook Pro. Same problem happened; couldn't access either of my websites (just a blank page), either using Firefox or Safari (it seems like the Firefox 4 install on Mac also messes up the Safari browser).

Anyway, this is frustrating, and clearly the problem is with FF4.

As a clarification, my websites are built with Flash, so this might be a Flash problem. However, I updated the latest versions of Flash on both the Mac oand IBM computers and this did not fix the problem. Oddly, I am able to access every other website on the web. Please help!

I have since accessed my website on my daughter's W7 using Outlook - works fine. It does seem to be a Firefox problem but only for a website belonging to the user and/or developed on the same hardware.

Sorry, I hadn't tested that page with Firefox 4. I had looked at the page source in Firefox 3.6.x and hadn't noticed anything weird at that time.

Checking in Firefox 4 revealed that there is a problem with all the code that you placed in the body tag, in this case the hidden="" entry that makes Firefox 4 hide the body.

Just remove all those unnecessary code that looks like CSS code

<body div="" margin:0="" border:0="" padding:0="" height:100="" max-height:100="" font-family:arial="" verdana="" sans-serif="" font-size:76="" overflow="" hidden="" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(204, 255, 255);" alink="#ee0000" link="#0000ee" vlink="#551a8b">

<body style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(204, 255, 255);" alink="#ee0000" link="#0000ee" vlink="#551a8b">

I have removed the hidden = code. I suspect that the code will be in all my pages. I will update the Index page and see what happens. May take a while. Thanks

I have tried removing some or all of the code listed in addition to the "hidden = "" code. Removing just the "hidden" code does not solve the problem using Wamp server. Taking anything else out changes the appearance of the page in Kompozer but does not solve the problem. I have confirmed on several pages other than index.html this code is not present and is unlikely to be on any other page as I use a template page.

The Home page should be working if you remove all extra code. I do not know why KompoZer would create or require that extra code. I see that you haven't uploaded that corrected code for the home page. All other pages that I've tried display without problems for me. It is only the home page that is blank in Firefox 4. Which other pages give you problems?

If you open pages in Firefox that you have uploaded again then make sure to bypass the cache just in case.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

Thank you cor-el for your help. My index page is now on line. I test my changes on my home server before transferring them to the web site server. Although never working in the industry I have been involved in computers since before I bought the first release TRS80 in 1976, but now at 76 years old I find I don't keep up with the technology so well. I used a template from the Kompozer support site when I had to move from Front Page some years ago in case I needed CSS. I guess I don't!
