My previous version of FF would go directly to the website just by entering the name w/o ".com, .org, .net, etc" while this one does not. How do I enable that feature?

My previous version of FireFox would go to a website by entering the address minus ".com, .org, .net, etc". For example, if I wanted to visit eBay I would go to the address bar and type "eBay" then press enter. I would not have to type "eBay.com". That feature made surfing the web very quick and easy for me. Now when I type "eBay" I am directed to a search engine and have to click it from there. I know I can always add the ".com", but I really liked the ability of not having to. Is there a way to retrieve that feature for this version of FireFox?

You can try to disable keyword search by setting the keyword.enabled pref to false.

To which search page are you redirected?
Some ISP automatically redirect to a search page if a DNS look up fails and in that case you need to opt-out of that service..

That was actually a search.

For what you were doing you would need to change your keyword.URL in your "about:config" settings. See Location Bar search (external - search engine) -- this was the value in Firefox 2 which seems like what you had carried over through Firefox 3 but got overridden with Firefox 4 and later, you can restore your setting.

type in the address bar about:config

then press the button i'l be careful i promise

then type in the bar browser.fixup.alternate.enabled

then double-click on it to set its value to true(probably you have false in there).

exit firefox and restart.

remember you must put www. before ebay, www.ebay and firefox complete the url, www.ebay.com and direct there.

thank you

The above was already set to true. I do not need to put ".com", but I still need to put "www." where I did not in my previous version. Is there a way to avoid entering "www." as well?

I am not very good with computers, how would I change the settings to avoid entering "www./.com" in the location bar using the link you provided?
