I'm upgrading my super old firefox to the 8.0.1 version and I've tried installing it twice but when I open the downloaded file my computer gives me a warning:

The following disk images failed to mount:

Image: Firefox 8.0.1.dmg

Reason: not recognized

Please help?

Can you at least update your old Firefox 3.6.13 version to the latest Firefox 3.6.25 version?

Nope, same error. I would just completely delete it off of my computer and try installing it from scratch but if I did that I'd lose my bookmarks. Is there a way to export them if it comes down to that?

Thanks!

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
