I meant an Admin user account on my computer. All roads seem to be leading me back to the Admin user account that gives the error msg "Firefox profile cannot be found . . . "

Now that I have created a different Admin user account, how can I retrieve the bookmarks from the other one?

NOTE: you can skip this 1st step. Step 1

I'm on Win7 so the paths might be slightly different... C:\Users\(YOUR PC ACCOUNT)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bnelgkol.default\bookmarkbackups ... Find the "bookmarks-[DATE].json" you want and copy it to the profile you want. You may want to change the date to a name you will recognize.

Step 2

Then on your browser "Bookmarks>Show All Bookmarks or Ctrl+Shift+B ". This will bring up the Bookmark Organizer, I think they call it Library now. From there click "Import & Back up>Restore" this will bring up a drop down with your back ups. If you followed step 1, find the json you added and select it. If you skipped step 1, from "Import & Back up>Restore" select "Choose File..." Then browser for the json you want to import. Which should be in a similar location as mentioned in step 1.

NOTE: "AppData" is a hidden folder, will have to set show hidden folders to be able to see it.

I followed the above steps more than once and I still receive the "This will replace all of your current bookmarks with the back up. Are you sure?"

I click "okay" but I still do not see the bookmarks. I know that they are in the BACKUP folder because I can see them . . . just can't get to them.

I cannot open Firefox AT ALL through that account. It simply will not open. It keeps giving the error message "Firefox profile cannot be found . . . " And, when I try to find answers using IE, I can only get so close to solving the problem before my computer screen becomes completely FUZZY . . . to the point where I cannot read or make sense of anything on the screen. It's really weird.

Nonetheless, I am using a new Admin account now and I can see that the backup file are on my hard drive. How can I get to them under this new Admin account?

That means that there is a profiles.ini that specifies a (default) profile, but the profile isn't there.

If you delete the profiles.ini file then Firefox should create a new default profile.

I deleted the profiles.ini file and Firefox created a new default profile. How should I proceed?

If that new default profile works then you can use it.

Are there any other profile folder present that may still have your old data?

Yes. There are several. What's the best way to go about getting rid of the extra ones, completely.

So far, I have copied the desired file for the bookmarks from Help>troubleshoot and I have created new profiles that I saved to my hard drive and a flash drive. When I opened firefox, it gave me the option of opening with the created file, but I still did not see the bookmarks.

I am now bald, but I'm still here trying.
