I am setting up Wyse Thin Clients for a project for my company. The Thin Client is set up in kiosk mode and defaults to a default web site. When the Thin Client is not used for a period of time it goes to sleep. When it wakes up, it is losing its web site setting and loading the incorrect page. I have made changes to the privacy settings and saved them. These thin clients load the prefs.js file from a ftp server when they are booted up. I have a copy of the file that I send to the clients and one that ended up on the client. I need to know what each entry in the prefs.js file actually means to see if there is an invalid entry. I ahve searched the internet and can't find a reference that details these entries.

Note that the prefs.js file only stores prefs that have been modified and do not have the default value.

If you want to initialize prefs then you can use a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder or a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder

See:

Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.

pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift

These functions can be used in the mozilla.cfg file:

defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes
