Firefox sync was not working correctly on my laptop so I decided to delete my old account and start fresh, after trying everything I could think of to fix the problem. However, now I can't create a new account, be it with my old e-mail address or a new one. I keep getting 'Unknown Error' when trying to create a new sync account.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

I'm not sure that my current profile has anything to do with it--have just tried creating a new account on a desktop that was not connected to my previous sync account.

I have a similar issue where I no longer had my recovery key, so I opted to delete my Sync account. But now it won't let me create a new Firefox Sync account because it says my e-mail address is still in use.
