Although these tools may be created using scripting, turning it off probably would break half of the web. So this setting has been hidden from easy changing. (It's still there if you really need it, but...) Does this problem occur nonstop on all sites, or only on particular sites? If you see it all the time, it might be a feature of one of your add-ons. As a quick test to rule out your extensions as the cause, could you try visiting the same sites in Firefox's Safe Mode? You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset) Any difference? ---- If it's a feature of a few websites, could you give some sample links?
