synch will not synch
I have had the old synch working on and off for some time. I've just set up a new desktop and needed to synch it with my other machines. So, following the procedures for setting up the new synch I cancelled all old synch accounts on my various computers. I then set my laptop up with the new synch as this contains all the data I want on my other machines. However, it does not appear to upload anything, nor has it downloaded anything (which is good). I thought that, maybe synch was very quick, so I went and set up synch on another machine in the hope that it would pick up the data from the laptop. NOTHING HAPPENS. No upload/download or anything. All it seems to do is log into the account and then nothing. I even deleted the "old" new account and set up another using a different email address and still nothing. Both machines still retain their old "unsynched" data and both are running FF32.

I have just found that my bookmarks have synched, so maybe it is working. It even looks like my ad-ons are loaded along with my passwords. Why, then, has my speed dials not loaded? I can live with that, but, still a nuisance.
Looks like only speed dial was not synchronised although some of my options/preferences did not seem to update either.
Sorry that you are having issues with Sync.
The Sync for Add-ons isn't 100%. The add-ons themselves usually Sync properly, when the extensions are hosted at AMO, but user set preferences and data for those add-ons probably won't be synchronized.
Each add-on developer has to program their add-on with Sync capabilities, and it's a preference by preference situation. Based upon the add-ons that I routinely use, less than 5% have that feature - 2 out of 52 extensions. And of those 2 extensions, neither synchronized every pref that I expected to be "sent" to my other devices. Admittedly not very scientific, but that is my observation.
Overall, after the 2nd device I connected to that Sync account and realized what happened, I turned off Sync for Add-ons as I added additional devices. IMO, rather than have to figure out what did Sync and what didn't, I felt it was better to manually install and configure each extension, and in the process create a user.js file for my commonly set preferences for add-ons and copy that file to each Profile on that Sync account. Yep more work, but once it is completed it is easier to maintain in the long run. But that only works when extensions use prefs.js / about:config for their prefs - separate, unique data files are something else and need to handled one by one.
The sorry thing is that the AMO website doesn't have a field for something like "This extension will work 100% with the Firefox Sync service".
