What would cause the Facebook button to disappear from my tool bar and do I have to remove the add-on and reinstall it to get the button to show again?

Used the Facebook button on my tool bar numerous times yesterday without any problems, then, when I went back to use it again later in the day, it had disappeared from my tool bar. Can't get it to show on the tool bar. Do I have to remove the add-on and reinstall it to get the button back? And what would cause it to disappear?

Could this be the Facebook Toolbar Button add-on? If so, I see other reports of a missing button in its AMO page. In that case, it’s for sure something in it wasn’t updated or tested for 44, so I’m afraid you’ll have to await a new version for the issue to be resolved.

Are you sure the add-on is still working and enabled? It may have been disabled after (automatically) updating Firefox and the fact that it may not be compatible with the new version, so check that first in the Add-ons manager using Tools > Add-ons > Extensions.

The add-on is enabled but the button doesn't show anymore. I can go to my "most visited" folder and access Facebook there, but it was convenient to have the tool bar button.

Is this about a button present in the right top (by default) next to other ones, and you are sure it wasn’t moved? Did you try to find it using "Customize"? Note that if it is not visible in the toolbar, it can be hidden at the left section there OR be visible in the quick menu on the right when in Customize mode - some people overlook that section. Either way, you should be able to safely remove and reinstall the add-on without losing its data (no warranty though). If it helps and the issue returns, it may be caused by the add-on.

Yes, it's about the default button in the top right. Looked everywhere for the button, but it's gone. Went through your suggestions and still can't find it. I'll uninstall the add-on and reinstall it shortly. I'm sure that will fix the problem. Still.. it would be nice to know what would cause this to happen. Thanks for the info, man. Appreciate your time and effort with this.

Well, that didn't work. I removed the add-on (twice) and re-installed it, but the button simply will not show on my tool bar anymore. Closed out of Firefox, re-started it, but still nothing. Looks like this is going to turn into a project if I want the button back on my tool bar.

Yes, it was the Facebook Toolbar Button add-on. Worked just fine for over a month, then disappeared. Guess I'll wait for updates to come out. Thanks.
