I can't save gifs anymore. When I right click the Gif it doesn't give me the option to "save image as" or "save as" it only gives me the options to "save page as" and when I click that there is no option to save it as a gif. The only options it gives me to save are "webpage complete", "webpage HTML only", "text files" and "all files" none work with saving gifs. The problem has been mainly on Twitter. I am using the current FireFox and Windows 8. Thanks.

Is that really a GIF file or possibly a media file ((mp4 video .gifv) that is played with the HTML5 media player?

You can check this with the Inspector (right-click: Inspect Element).

I think so, I checked and it says gif.. And there are other gifs posted on Twitter that I have tired to save just to see if the problem continues and it does. I can't save any of them.

Searching for Twitter GIFs naturally turned up this page:

https://twitter.com/gifs

It does seem that Twitter (or the original source from which they were posted) is converting them to videos. Try this:

right-click the viewer > This Frame > View Frame Info

In that Page Info dialog, you should be able to use the Media panel to view and save media.

(When I right-click the video player, the click is intercepted by another element related to video controls, so I do not get the usual Pause, Stop, Play, Save Video As items)

Thanks, I tried that and it works. Is there a reason why I must go trough that in order to save it? Didn't have to do that before.

Or this might be faster... There are add-ons which let you right-click and delete the right-clicked thing, such as the transparent controls element in this case. For example:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nuke-anything-enhanced/

Then you should get the standard right-click context menu for videos, images, etc.

If you accidentally delete the wrong thing, there should be an undo item on the menu, or you can reload the page (deleting is temporary).

Sorry, I don't know how it worked before, but Twitter may have changed its layout.

Yeah, it seems like they have as I have the same problem with Chrome. Well, thank for your reply, it helped!
