When tracing ancestors, I need to bookmark sources for genealogical reference purposes. I need a simple way to add 100s of NEW source bookmarks to my HOME computer on a daily basis when using WORK, FRIENDS, or LIBRARY computers that I do NOT own. I don't think I want to merge / import / sync my HOME bookmarks to those machines, as they are NOT my computers. I only need an easy way to ACCESS bookmarks from my HOME computer and to add NEW bookmarks to my HOME computer from those REMOTE locations. I know I can use "EXPORT ALL BOOKMARKS" to copy my ENTIRE bookmark file at home to a portable FLASH drive in HTML format. But, is it possible to quickly save NEW bookmarks DIRECTLY to the folder structure of that exported HTML file when using a public computer, and then to SYNC my home computer to that HTML file to pick up any NEW bookmarks or folders added to it? It's also unclear to me how I would make that HTML file the default bookmark location on a work computer which probably does NOT permit me to make registry changes. The ideal solution would probably be some way to store ALL my bookmarks in the cloud, vs on a flash drive, and to simply login to a cloud account from wherever I happen to need them. I would miss the Firefox Bookmark manager, though, if the cloud account did not work with it.

Send Tabs requires installing an app on other computers, and falls short of saving links directly as bookmarks.

A portable edition of Firefox *might* be an answer if I could keep it "SYNC'd" to the bookmark file on my HOME computer, and use it on ANY library computer. I know my workplace computers support USB flash drives. I'm not 100% certain that my local libraries have USB support.

So, how would SYNCing a portable Firefox to an internally installed Firefox work?

Does anyone have a cloud based alternative? ie, Simply login from ANY host computer and build ONE bookmark file that can be accessed AND updated from ALL locations? vs trying to keep multiple lists of bookmarks in sync?

I don't use sync. Check with the portable support site on that. Might be the same as normal FF.
