Isn't low security better than no security?

When I try to visit my router's page via http it works, but If I try to go via https it doesn't work. "The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified." I have to visit the unsecured version of the page rather than the secured version, because Firefox thinks the secured version isn't secured enough.

Question: Isn't SOME security better than NONE?

Analogy: A unlocked shut door will prevent more thiefs than an open door.

Hi

I am not sure that here is the best place for such a debate (I am a Linux user myself) but I would still recommend that everyone looks for and uses (where available) https versions of pages.

I also notice that you are using an older version of Firefox. I recommend that you update to the latest version so that you have the latest security and stability fixes.

This is firefox-esr, so 52.x.y is the latest version https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/

I think that firefox should be nicer with 'low' security than with 'no' security. Is there an option somewhere that can change this? It's not like I can change the site.

If you can only access the router via an open HTTP connection and can't upgrade the firmware then you have no choice other than accepting the warnings that current Firefox releases show.
