Won't complete URLs (e.g., without www or http) and just hangs
I'm running Firefox 59.0.2 (64-bit) on Mac and have noticed this issue in recent releases.
Basically, if you enter a shorthand version of a URL - e.g. "google.com" vs "www.google.com" - in the address bar the browser will just hang for an inordinate amount of time.
So is Google down again??.....no, of course not. Instead it's like we're transported back to 2003 where there's no built-in intuitive completion of URLs and one must revert to fully typing out the full URL.
Obviously minor, but really freaking annoying...especially when every other browser in the world handles that gracefully and takes you where you want to go.
What gives??

I would think that a file has become corrupted and that is why you are having a issue.
REFRESH INSTRUCTIONS Hi, please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
then
TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:
If is your Profile :

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
