My wife uses Firefox on our iMac. I want to switch from Chrome to Firefox on the same iMac, but I don't want my bookmarks mixed in with my wife's bookmarks.
Is it possible to have a Firefox window that I can use with only my bookmarks, so my wife can have her Firefox windows and bookmarks undisturbed? If this isn't possible, I do have a bookmark folder on Firefox. Can I replace these bookmarks with the ones I would import from Chrome?

Do you mean I have to logout from our shared Mac account, then login to my own account to get my own Firefox windows? I'd like to have my own windows but under our shared Mac user account if possible.
The only way to keep data separate is with separate user accounts.
With bookmarks, you could set up subfolders for his and hers. But all other data would be shared.

On the computer, create a user account for yourself. Firefox will then create a separate profile for you in your user folder.
I do have a Firefox account that I created (username and password), but I don't know where to find my user folder, from a Firefox window, or otherwise. If I do find it, then I don't know how to configure Firefox so I'll have my own windows with just my bookmarks, etc.
If you mean a Mac user account, I already have one. Currently my wife and I share a user account. Do you mean I have to logout from our shared Mac account, then login to my own account to get my own Firefox windows? I'd like to have my own windows but under our shared Mac user account if possible.

Is the link you provided only for Windows computers? It seems to conflict with the answer I got from FredMcD saying I have to create a separate user account on my Mac to keep the Firefox bookmarks, etc., separate from my wife's.

Fred, I went to the Download link you provided. It just says Download Now for Mac. (I didn't download because I was unsure what would happen relative to our existing Firefox). You also gave me the link to the Profile manager for Firefox 67 and above. Our current version is 68.0.1. If I download a new version from the link you provided, will that override our current version? Or do I need to install it in a different location from our current Firefox? Will it prompt me to setup a profile that I can use for myself with my own bookmarks, etc.? Or can I setup a separate profile in our existing Firefox? If so, how do I do that? Thanks.
You can create separate Firefox profile folders on the same Mac user account or each of you can use a separate Mac user account and then Firefox will automatically use a separate profile that is located in each user account.
I'm not sure whether on Mac it is easy to launch Firefox with a specific Firefox profile because this requires to specify a profile in the command you use to launch Firefox (firefox -P "profile-name"). See:
I followed the link you gave. Here's my Terminal session:
[RichardComputer:~] richardjanet% cd /Applications/Firefox.app//Contents/MacOS/ [RichardComputer:Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS] richardjanet% ./firefox -ProfileManager [RichardComputer:Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS] richardjanet% ./firefox -CreateProfile richardsff [RichardComputer:Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS] richardjanet% ./firefox -P richardsff [RichardComputer:Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS] richardjanet%
After each ./firefox command I entered, the result was a new Firefox window opened. If I use the ./firefox -P richardsff command, will the resulting window allow me to import my Chrome bookmarks and wipe out my wife's bookmarks, then if she opens a Firefox window from the Applications folder or from an existing window, will the bookmarks I've imported using my richardsff windows be separate from hers and not conflict in any way?
Thanks.
If you create a new profile for yourself like you posted above then this profile should have the bookmarks you create and possibly import/restore when you use this profile. If you connect to Sync then make sure that there is no data from your wife in the Firefox Account that you use. If necessary then reset the password of the Sync account to wipe data on the Sync server before connecting your new profile to this Sync account.
How can I see what's in my profile? What is the Sync account? How do I connect to it?
Your Firefox profile contains all the data about the browser. History, bookmarks, settings . . . . and so on.
Sync is a way to share data between other systems/profiles.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-sync-my-computer Sync your bookmarks, history, passwords, add-ons and open tabs with another copy of Firefox. Learn how to set up Sync.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-choose-what-types-information-sync-firefox We'll show you how to choose which types of information (bookmarks, history, add-ons, and passwords) to share across all your devices through Firefox Sync.
I imported my bookmarks from Chrome into a folder on the Bookmarks Toolbar. The profile, sync, etc. are just confusing for what I want to do, so I don't need anything more.
Thanks for your efforts.
Glad to help. Safe Surfing.
