Using FF 84.0.1 (64 bit) on Windows 10 Pro (v 20H2) (OS build 19042.685) (Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0) and MS Office 2003.

Until recently I've never had this problem but now, when I right click an image on a website and choose 'copy image' then paste it into my MS Word 2003 document, instead of the image, I see text containing the image's location.

Example: Instead of a pasted photo I get this: { INCLUDEPICTURE "https://food.fnr.sndimg.com/content/dam/images/food/fullset/2020/21/KC2613_Country-Style-Eggs-Benedict_s4x3.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.826.620.suffix/1608571541589.jpeg" \* MERGEFORMATINET }rrrttttt5f4f4rrtt54frt54ff5

In Word for Windows, Ctrl+s already should save the document. I think there might be a feature to auto-save the document at various time intervals, but perhaps that is only for the document recovery feature.

Anyway, this isn't a Word forum.

Hi, Word's INCLUDEPICTURE field is an embedded image field. To flip between viewing field codes and field results, you can use the Alt+F9 keyboard shortcut.

You also can select the field and press Ctrl+Shift+F9 to lock in the image so that link doesn't break when you are offline. (Sorry, Shift+F9 only flips that particular code, you need Ctrl+Shift+F9 to freeze the result.)

If you prefer to just paste the image in the first place, without creating a field code, you could try Paste Special. Below the Paste button on the ribbon -- did Word 2003 have the ribbon? -- click the little triangle to open the sub-menu and choose Paste Special. Usually Word will have a bitmap option there as an alternative to HTML. There's also an option in the menu somewhere to make pasting a bitmap the default.

I'm sure that's more than you ever wanted to know, and this isn't even an MS Word forum. ;-)

I appreciate your "MS Word" info. This "INCLUDEPICTURE field" only began a short while ago. It never happened in the past since my late sister gave me Office 2003. I loved (past tense) Office 2003, and I'm one of those who despise the later versions that use a ribbon. I like making my own tool bars and populating them with my own macros. I don't like the ribbon because I have to do an Easter egg hunt every time I want to do something that with 2003 is right in front of me. I also despise Windows 10 Start menu tiles. A list is far more productive than trying to remember what each tile represents. I can scan a list in an 8th of the time it takes to scan as many tiles as I have in my menu. The only thing I can think of that may have changed all this is some Microsoft update that should never have been allowed to access my copy of Office. Even my page numbers have changed to this "{PAGE }", and I cant change it back to numbers.

I tried "Paste Special" and it worked, but again, even in 2003, it becomes an Easter egg hunt just to do something that use to take a fraction of a second. This has brought my productivity to a crawl. I use Office 2003's Word almost every day for hours at a time. I want to paste photos naturally like it did before all this, without having to use a toolbar (Just copy and paste or drag and drop always worked fine). I can't even use Word's "Numbers" and "Bullets" without an hourglass appearing and Word just closing on me, losing everything I've spent an hour to accomplish.

This is probably why I have that Ctrl+s reflex programmed into my left hand.

As a work around, until I find a fix for this particular issue, I created a "Paste Special/File" macro on my up front and highly visible Toolbar (The choices under "Paste Special" when a photo is in the clipboard are "Device Independent Bitmap", "HTML format", and "Files" ) This has given me back a little sanity.

 BTW: If you can direct me to the proper authorities for my issues (plural), I'd appreciate that info very much. I'm not much good at understanding and implementing Windows 10 repairs, but I'll give it a try with the right instructions. My biggest problem is that everybody talks over my head (assuming I know what they are talking about), and I just can't resolve anything.

Did you ever press Alt+F9 to flip your field code displays back to results?

I don't know where people are still supporting Word 2003. However, you could take a look at:

Yes. I did press Alt +F9 but it did not work. Instead (for most images) I use the Paste Special option, but have created a simple macro on my toolbar that makes it fast and simple. Some images still do not respond and I have to choose a different Paste Special selection to paste as a bitmap, and in rare cases I make a screenshot of the image and it pastes directly into Word just like old times.

I already have a Save As shortcut on my toolbar, but I'd like something that would save changes in the background and not close my window down when it saves.
