NordVPN requires Firefox reboot when switched on/off

A lot of websites won't accept connections via my VPN, which I keep active all the time. So I pause NordVPN, then try again - some sites then allow access, some don't.

However... FF then seems to lose connectivity to other sites. If I resume the VPN, FF still won't connect.

So I reboot FF, wait for the "FF is already running..." message (why does this always happen? Doesn't seem to when I resort to other browsers, eg Chrome, Edge), and eventually get back on line.

So... is there any reason FF can't use a connection which has been interrupted/changed?

Anything I can do to prevent this (and also the "FF is already running..." message)?

Thanks

Note that you give Firefox time to finish shutting down properly and flush all data to the profile folder. If you start Firefox too soon then you get "FF is already running...". To avoid that you can restart Firefox via the about:profiles page.

You can try a PB mode window in case there are cache/cookie issues. You can also try to toggle "Work Offline" on/off after switching the VPN to see if that has effect.

OK, thanks, but unfortunately the "Work Offline" toggle didn't do it... thing is, if I cut the VPN, then resume it to the same server, FF still doesn't recover till I restart it.

Not sure how long it takes to flush its data etc... I just tried a slow count to 10, but still the old message.

Sorry, but I didn't understand the bits about the about:profiles page, or PB Mode...

Oh right, sorry, the about:profiles bit was easy to find after all. Got it.
