There's surely no option for it now, but I would like to suggest adding a setting for each user that can affect all or individual add-on extensions : force silent updates. You see, when add-ons get updated, they open a new tab. Now this can be useful or simply interesting, but sometimes it's just obtrusive for people, especially when watching a video. This happened to me a couple of times, I'd be watching a YouTube video on full screen and suddenly the program would exit full screen and switch to a new tab where the add-on page is open, and the video is still playing. Thanks!

1. Go to the extension's settings and look for an option to disable update messages. 2. Contact the extension developer and ask to make update messages optional. 3. Disable automatic extension updates and manually check for updates yourself.

Hi, the problem is that not all add-ons have this option. I'm not even sure if this is a frequently provided option. There are options such as run in private windows and automatic updates. What can I do if there's no option to disable update messages? What if the developer has no communication method? And I would still rather have them update with the occasional distractions than not at all. Also, I don't have much time on me to go through every single add-on (there are quite a lot) and see if there's an update. Is there a setting in about:config that disables add-ons from opening tabs automatically?

User installed Addon is up to the user themselves to update or remove this isn't a Firefox issue per say. Firefox updates aren't the same as Addon update those are two different processes not related. You were given the steps of what to do with Addon issues - it's up to the user to decide what to do but Firefox forum isn't to resolve Addon issues.
