I run FF3.6.26 XP Pro-SP3. Something happened to my system proxy settings. FF & other progs can't access the net. I set FF to No Proxy now FF works. How can I change system settings back so I can set FF to use system settings & get my progs working again?

What are the default system proxy settings? How can I check what they currently are? How can I reset them back to the original values? The default network setting for FF is to use the system proxy settings, so FF must be able to read what the system settings are. Therefore, Mozilla must have a way of determining at least what the current system settings are. FF will no longer function with the current system settings. I'm quite certain that if my system proxy settings are reset to the defaults, that FF will once again work with it's default network setting of using the system proxy settings, and that all my other net programs will once again be able to access the net.

Hopefully some kind soul will be able to help me with this. Thank you, Gunther

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy" if the default "Use the system proxy settings" setting doesn't work. The "No Proxy" setting usually works best on Windows XP.

See "Firefox connection settings":

I already have set FF to No Proxy. This made FF work again, but not any of my other internet programs, programs that don't have the option to set to no proxy, they rely on the system settings. So I need to know how to reset my system settings back to their default values. This will allow all my net progs to access the net again, including FF using the Use System Settings option. Since FF has an option to use system settings, this is a somewhat FF related question. I need to get all my net programs working again, not just FF! And, if my system settings are restored, FF will work using the system settings, and all my other progs will work too.
