I use firefox 12.0 (also I use waterfox 12) and in both when I turn on my computer and I open firefox (normally I open firefox and Windows Live Messenger) firefox hangs out as not responding for 5 or 10 senconds. That's happens ALWAYS.

It does everytime I turn on my computer and start firefox, if I close firefox and then open it well, not happened just happen the first time.

I use microsoft security essential, and the other program that execute at the start are:

  • Rainlendar
  • Syncplicity
  • Cubby
  • MS security Client
  • Kwerty Gmail notifier

I'm sorry you are having issues with Firefox hanging at startup. I'd love to help you work through this, so hopefully we can get you back up and running really soon :)

Do you have to open Firefox manually, or do you have it set to automatically open with your computer at startup?

Try to start Firefox in Safe mode. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.

A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this: Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers.

Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

I think I find the problem. I've the tab mix plus extension, I desactivated the tab mix plus Session restore and Activate the default firefox session restore. And it seems it works.

Well I rehave the problem so I don't fix it. How can I start a safe mode of firefox insteada normal session without open a normal session before.

I have all plugin updates, I have no virus, and I 've got the last driver.

I just checked with firefox 12.0 using safe star as first execute (create an shortcourt with the option) and I still have the same problem, firefox freezes (not responding) for 5 to ten second at every first start next to turn on the computer.

Any idea?

I just wanna know where the problem is.
