I have recently changed passwords for twitter. However, I now can't log into twitter with firefox, but I can with IE, which I don't normally use. Why is this?

I recently decided to change all my passwords for twitter, facebook, email etc. My first choice browser at the time was Chrome. However, when i changed my passwords, I was unable to log into my accounts with my new passwords when using chrome on my laptop, though I could log in with firefox and IE. In the end I got really fed up and sadly uninstalled Chrome.

I am now using firefox, and all is well except twitter. I can enter identical log in details in both firefox and internet explorer, and while twitter in IE will log me in, Twitter in firefox will not.

This is driving me crazy! Please help!

Hi shearclass,

could you try to clear cookieas and cache and then reload the page? Information on how to do this can be found here:
Clear cookies and site data in Firefox
I think this will do the work, but if it doesn't help you could try to
Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
If again this isn't of any help you could try

Clearing the history worked! I can;t believe it as I was certain I had done this before! I am sure i tried this with Chrome when I initially had the problem but it didn't fix it. Oh well, it works now!

So is it specifically the cookies and the cache that cause this problem? I had not changed my passwords for a while, but I have never had this problem before.

Is it normal for this to happen or can I change settings so it doesn't happen? Whenever i change a password in future will i have to clear cache and cookies?

Thanks very much

Hi shearglass,

this was normal to happen. It's a common practice nowadays not to keep all cookies and deleting firefox cache frequently (I do it all the time..) but also (in order to see what is going on) you can use an addon like

but it's not necessary! Cookies are used by sites to track preferences and store sessions, so if a previous session was already saved it couldn't work with the new password.
You could see this article for details:
Fix login issues on websites that require a username and password
You can also set Firefox to keep cookies from sites until you close it, so next time you start Firefox it won't remember your previous logins!
In this article:
Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox for desktop
you will find more details on this!
Hope that helped you!

Awesome - thanks for your help. I will check out those links later. That was probably why I has having problems with Chrome.

i will probably stick with firefox, though I am disappointed that kaspersky doesn't seem compatible with firefox. However, that's a question for another thread.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
