Not sure whether this is the problem, but you definitely should delete the old Flash plugin so that only one is active. You can delete it manually in this folder.

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

The files starting with NPSWF32 are the plugins used by Firefox. At this point, you only want the one named NPSWF32_11_6_602_180.dll, so please remove the older one corresponding with version 10.3.

Do you use any video downloaders? Try disabling any external downloader programs from reaching into Firefox

More generally, disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on this page:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

Then restart Firefox and see whether the delay is improved. Any luck?

Use hardware acceleration when available: Firefox can use your computer's graphics processor to display some pages with video and animation. This makes Firefox faster since your computer's graphics processor is much better than your computer's main processor at displaying these types of things. This box is checked by default but the feature isn't available for all graphics processors. Firefox will enable it when possible.

To find out if you got this feature activated, do as follows:

1) Type in "about:config" in the URL line, and hit enter. 2) Search for gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled. 3) If this says False under the column Value, double-click it to change it's value to True. 4) Restart Firefox.

Any improvements?

The Knowledgebase contains some articles with a range of remediations for Flash problems. Some of this information may be obsolete, but much of it still pertains even after version 11.3.

Next time, could you grab a screen shot of the window that comes up? This article might help: How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Another feature of Flash is that sites use it to store local data. You could purge that data in case there is some problem with the data store. In most cases, the data isn't important, but if you play Flash games, you might need to clear storage more selectively on a site-by-site basis in order to avoid losing game assets or status.

You can manage your Flash storage settings using the Windows Control Panel (Flash applet) or an Adobe website. The URLs for the website are:

Note that Macromedia was the original developer of Flash, and the above site is owned by Adobe.

The second shot shows Firefox having a problem with a PDF. Firefox 19 introduced a built-in PDF Viewer. You can switch that off and use another program for viewing PDFs, either a plugin such as Adobe Acrobat or Foxit, or an external program such as Adobe Reader. This article describes how to make the switch: View PDF files using Firefox’s built-in viewer. Hopefully that will at least resolve issues with PDFs.
