The last time Firefox actually saved an html page in the history was May 16th. Firefox will only save pages that I visit that are non-html pages, a page that ends in .pdf, jpg, .doc, etc.

I have tried several times messing around with options - picking don't remember history, then restarting and selecting remember history.

I uninstalled Firefox, but kept personal data. Then I reinstalled. Still didn't work.

I then used the reset FireFox. It only made things worse. Now I can't change the home page.

This is Firefox 22 beta on Win 8 Pro 64bit

ok - crazy - but now that I worked out the homepage issue and have it going to a page that wasn't in the dropdown - I restarted FireFox and it is now remembering the history correctly. However, all my old history has been wiped - it looks like it is all deleted. I did not delete it.

The only other change that happened when I restarted FireFox this last time was the Adobe Application Updater updated itself and also updated Adobe's Camera Raw.

Anyway, it seems to be working now -so that is great!

Does this only happen when you close and restart Firefox or already during a browsing session?

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Browsing History

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

Both the history and homepage issue happens during browsing.

Nope, I am not using clear browsing history.

The homepage issue - I have more info on this - if in the the homepage text box, I used a site that was in the dropdown auto-fill selection, it would not stick - as soon as I picked another tab or clicked ok, it would revert back to the default firefox start page.

If I enter a page in manually that is not recognized in that autofill selection dropdown, the page will stay.

Or if I use "use current page", if it is a page that is new or not recognized, it will stick. But, if it is a page that will be recognized by autofill, it won't stick.

Hope that is clear and makes sense.

Thanks for responding so quick!

I should also add this...

If I open other tabs and visit sites and then close them, these pages will show up under the recently closed tabs, but again they won't appear in the history themselves.
