Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Command+0 on Mac)

That has no affect in the game rooms on yahoo. It only affects the browser page which I'm not having issues with

Are that Java applets or plugin objects like Flash?

In case of Flash you can try to clear the local storage.

  • Windows Control Panel > Flash Player > Storage: Local Storage Settings
    • Remove a specific domain: Local Storage Settings by site
    • Remove all domains: Delete All and Delete Data

Flash Website Storage Settings panel:

Global Storage Settings Panel:

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

None of this worked. None. I've worked on this all day. Emptying this, removing that and nothing has worked. Please advise.

I was going to ask Why is Yahoo games displaying wrong? The top half of the screen is all I see and it displays only one game table in Hearts. I normally use Firefox but that is where the game appears messed up. I disabled plugins and started FF in safe mode and got the same results. So I am not 100% that it is FF. Cleared cache, cleared cookies restarted FF even rebooted PC. No luck. Tried Zoom page and it was definitely not the solution.

I am able to use Chrome which gets me a proper page display, but some of the functionality is gone, such as the ability to click on "Profile" and actually see the players profile. Internet Explorer (IE8) seems to tun it just fine, which is another indicator it might be the browser. The problem with that theory is that there have been no Firefox updates for several weeks and the games have been fine.

I asked if others were having issues and Opera users were seeing the same short screen.

Sometimes websites change things and Firefox may tenaciously hang on to some cached files or old cookie settings which are incompatible with the changes. That's the basis for cor-el's suggestion to clear cache and cookies.

It's also possible they made changes that aren't fully compatible with every browser...

For anyone interested in exploring the page a bit:

On the area where Flash media should display but it's blank, if you right-click, do you get the Flash player menu? If you get a Firefox context menu, try clicking Inspect Element (Q). That should open a panel where an element is highlighted in a tree-like display of the page structure. You can click further up the tree (upward and to the left to select more and more of that area of the page. At any point, you can right-click an element and delete it to see whether it is hiding the lower part of the game behind it. By the way, I'm assuming no money is at stake in these games!

I am having this same problem. Is this a Yahoo problem or a problem Firefox is having with Yahoo?

Title: Parlor games not loading completely

Description: Players are reporting that as of June 18th they have been unable to load the full game window in certain parlor games, such as Literati, Dominoes and Chess.

Reported Date: June 17th, 2013 (Small window on yahoo pool)

CURRENT STATUS: We are aware of this issue and are currently working toward a resolution. We will provide updates here as they become available.

Work Around: This issue doesn't appear to occur in IE10. Additionally, some users are reporting that using the zoom funtion of the browser can allow players to see the whole room.

So the issue seems to be that the window that shows the game isn't large enough.

This may be fixable with some code in userContent.css as this may be caused by using percentages for the dimensions with a 'broken chain' that makes Firefox use a default.

Fixed it - Went to Java.com, had it verify version, was slightly outdated, installed latest version - all good.

(BE CAREFUL - they want you to install the ASK Search Toolbar)

Hi jmthan, Firefox doesn't have a built-in firewall. However, it has some security features that can affect how sites work, and of course, it runs many add-ons, some of which can block sites or modify how they appear.

Are you running Firefox 23.0.1? Starting in Firefox 23, some insecure content in secure pages will be blocked. A "shield" icon will appear to the left of the URL of the address bar in that case. This article describe the new feature in more detail: Mixed content blocking in Firefox

If the mixed content blocker is not causing the problem, could you start a new question and provide information about your add-ons? You can do that here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/new/desktop/websites
