I downloaded Firefox to be my default internet access, but when I tried to log in to my Tumblr account it would not let me. I can still get into my Tumblr using Internet Explorer which is my original default access. I've tried deleting all the cookies; that didn't help. What else can I try?

Hello trblwthtmblr, try to delete the cookies.sqlite file and any cookies.sqlite-journal files in firefox profile folder(Firefox button > Help menu > Troubleshooting Information > Under the Application Basics section click on Show Folder), and check it again, see for more info :

Remove corrupt cookies file

thank you

Does it work in a New Private Window?

When I tried to delete the cookies.sqlite it said I couldn't because it was open in Firefox; if I was not in Firefox I could not find the cookies.sqlite. Pretty frustrated; may just take Firefox off my computer and use what I already had which was working fine. I tried Firefox because my granddaughter uses it and likes it.

Hello, you can delete the cookies.sqlite file only if firefox is closed.

to open firefox profile folfer: Firefox button > Help menu > Troubleshooting Information > Under the Application Basics section click on Show Folder, now close firefox and delete the cookies.sqlite file and any cookies.sqlite-journal files, and then restart firefox.

second option to do that is from the run menu in windows(a little more tricky):

To open the Run command, in windows 8, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search), then enter run in the search box, tap or click Apps, and then tap or click Run then type in the Run box:

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

and now open the file, something like that : "xxxxxxxx.default"

then delete the cookies.sqlite file and any cookies.sqlite-journal files, and then restart firefox.

thank you

First of all, thank you for trying to help me. I've tried everything you've suggested, but haven't had any luck. When I open in Firefox, it will not allow me to enter anything in the address boxes - neither private or regular. It comes up with my home page (AOL)but will not allow me to go anywhere else. When I use my search engine to go to Tumblr log in, the log in page comes up but, it will not let me log in. However, I can still easily get to my Tumblr page using Internet Explorer. Might it help if I uninstall and then re-install Firefox?

You can do the uninstall and reinstall, but i think it is too much for that issue.

Can you create a new firefox profile and check it in the new profile ?

thanks again

The page that your suggestion sent me to said to try resetting Firefox before trying anything more complicated. It worked!!! Thank you so much for sticking with me through my internet illiteracy.

You are welcome, the reset firefox, basically creates a new profile. It is almost the same thing. I'm happy you are ok now.

What worked for me is disabling my "Ghostery" addon. Not by whitelisting the website, but by clicking "Pause blocking". Once logged in you can resume blocking in Ghostery.
