Hi Billboy

I do not remember seeing such a message myself, so maybe it is a scam. (I rarely look at the homepage)

  • What is the address of the page you are opening as a homepage ?
    • What is the apparent scam address ?
Right click and use any copy URL/copy link address option then paste that into your reply.
  1. Highlight the information in the addressbar and copy and paste it into your next message. (that may not actually be possible)
  2. Click on the icon at the left of the addressbar, what information does that provide.
  3. Compare the page with the page you get by keyng into the addressbar about:home then hitting the return key on the keyboard. That should give you the normal homepage.

Did you have a problem using the green button when you posted your message ?
Your full Firefox system details are not shown.

OK! I'm confused! My neighbor also gets the $3 request page when he uses FF? It's been on my Home Page since the beginnig, which he told me about FF when IE was having trouble earlier this year! I do Belive I used the Link he sent me! I've gotten updates from FF since then. Did you recently issue an update?

Today I'm getting a reminder to Donate before Year End!!

The area under the search box on the built-in home page displays rotating messages. I'm also seeing a fundraising message at the moment (attached screen shot is from last night). I'm giving time here on the forum instead. ;-)

You can hide that message area if you find it distracting. Here's an example of a past thread on that: How do I get rid of this aggravating stop watching us bar when I open Firefox?

You can set the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref to an empty string to prevent loading new snippets.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar.
