How can I hide/unhide a tab and it's contents without closing it?

In IE it used to be possible to hide a tab by right clicking on it and choosing the 'Hide tab' option. Then you could reshow it by choosing 'show hidden tabs' on one of the drop down menus. This meant you could have a window open with apparently only a blank tab page but in reality have any number of tabs open but not visible unless you wanted them to be. Is there an add-in for Firefox that will do the same thing?
