Yesterday the + tab would open a new tab when clicked. Today it doesn't. File New Tab doesn't work either. I am using OS X El Capitan. I really want to use FireFox as my browser -- it's much faster than Chrome. But I am not going to open a new window each time I want to start something new.

Does the behaviour continue in Firefox's Safe Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

If Yes, then we can rule out Themes, Extensions, and assorted settings. Next step is probably malware scans, but I don't know what scanners are good for Mac OS.

If No, then it's time to start weeding out Themes and Extensions 1-by-1 until the culprit is found.
