I can't hyperlink to an embedded youtube video on a wordpress website (www.tarsh.com/portfolio). I have the latest version of Firefox and Windows 10 and a 64 bit machine. I notice that when I mouse-over the link to the embedded video, the hyperlink address shown in small light type at the bottom of the page shows the page of the web site I'm on and not the hyperlink address of the embedded video. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and I have run lots of malware cleaners (Malware Bytes, Hitman Pro, Superantispyware and Zemana), all of which tell me my PC is clean. When I used my son's new laptop and downloaded Firefox, the links work correctly (as they do in Edge) and when I went through the Firefox settings on my machine and my son's, they were identical. From that, I deduce the problem must be on my machine but I just can't find it. If anyone is able to assist, I would be most incredibly grateful.

Went there in Private Mode and I have no mouse over info. Do not need it when can Right Click and Copy Link Location and paste it into any thing that downloads. Looked at 1 and it was up on Youtube. So would need a youtube downloader : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/

If want to : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.4 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thanks so much for your swift reply but I regret to report that this has not worked.

I had already run an extensive disk cleanup and had already saved my bookmarks.

When I uninstalled, I also removed Mozilla files manually from users/app data/local and from the relevant programme files.

On doing a fresh install of Firefox, I added a youtube extension but it did not help. I also noticed that when moving my mouse over the embedded link, the address showed as that of the current page rather than the embedded video.

If you have any other ideas, I'd be thrilled!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

You can also check for malware.
