I'd like the privacy mode default for most everything, however the Feedbro Newsreader addon won't run in privacy mode.
In general, I'd like Firefox to open in privacy mode, including desktop icon links and such. My major exception is for the Feedbro feed-reader extension. It does not run in privacy mode. If I set Firefox to "Always use private browsing mode," I am shut out of Feebro usefulness.
Is there a way to set a desktop or other icon to not utilize private browsing for this instance?
Is there some other work-around?

The basics are discussed in this article
- clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
- clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an "Allow" exception you may want to keep

You can set Firefox to never remember history, which is essentially permanent private browsing mode.
Do that, and enable tracking protection, and you're set!
Thanks, Tyler.
That does allow Feedbro to function.
Do you have suggestions regarding Clear history when Firefox closes / Settings?

I'd suggest setting them to whatever you feel is comfortable for you!
Good answer, Tyler!
I probably fall short of understanding the implications of settings. I suppose I can step through the options and see what happens.
'Implications of settings' is not simply problematic for me to think through ahead of time for just Firefox, but Windows 10 in general. ...didn't used to be this way. : )
Thanks, Tyler.
Note that this is likely because local storage doesn't work in Private Browsing mode. In private browsing mode no data is stored to the profile folder, so you would have to use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear all personal data (cache, cookies, history, site preferences).
Thanks, cor-el.
Can you suggest what Mozilla / Firefox resources I might look at to better understand the implications of 'Clearing history' per the various settings options?
Thanks, Orph

Thank you both, Tyler and cor-el.
One thing leads to another. : ) I'll mark this as resolved and will look into the Settings information cor-el has offered.
Kindly, Orph
PS I am reminded of a saying of the father of a friend of mine. "There is an exception to every rule except this one."
