I have locked xpinstall.enabled to false.

I wonder if this will prevent extension updates?

I hope not, because if it does, it will result in old extension versions which might have security issues.

Many users lock this property to avoid inexperienced users installing extensions.

In the example at enabled it seems that it blocks the function startSoftwareUpdate. And it's plain to see, that the function contains the word "update".
