Delete attachments from multiple emails
Please help!! There has got to be a way to delete attachments from multiple emails at once. I need to save the emails but no longer need the attachments.
I can't imagine that the only way to delete attachments is one email at a time. After using Thunderbird for almost 10 years, I have accumulated a few thousand emails. Short of deleting those emails (which I may need to refer to), how can I accomplish this mass attachment deletion.
I am using TB 78.4 on Mac OSX Mojave.
Thanks in advance, rscott

The FiltaQuilla add-on can add several filter Actions, including Detach Attachments. I tried it on a folder, and it did detach all attachments to a specified folder, but it also added duplicate messages with detached attachments, instead of replacing the originals. Adding a Delete action deleted the originals (see picture).
This doesn't answer my question. FiltaQuilla doesn't seem to be compatible with TB 78.7.
It is compatible with 78.7, because that is how I did the test. See these instructions for installing add-ons.
Sorry. I did install, but since I've never run an add-on before, I don't know how to go about running FiltaQuilla on a selected folder. Can you help?
The FiltaQuilla settings are under Tools/Add-on Options; press Alt if the Tools menu is missing. Check the appropriate boxes (see picture). Then, Tools/Message Filters, create a filter like the one in the picture in my first reply. Select the folder to filter, then Run Now (see picture).
thank you sfhowes. I've worked with the settings for about 15 minutes now. It's not working yet and I'm not finding the UI very intuitive. But I see in your picture that there are more settings I need to make. I will keep plugging away. Thank you!
Note that filters only run automatically on the Inbox, although they can be run manually on any folder.
It's deleting all my messages in my outbox. I only want it to delete the attachments.
I originally tested the filter on a folder where I had copied messages with attachments. See the picture for a filter that works only on messages with attachments. You can add other criteria if necessary.
