In "Composition" I have changed the font to "New Times Roman". I find no save or OK button, it remains set. Yet when I send e mails even though it is set they are sent in a default Font and size. What do I set to have the selected Font in Writing e mails? Also have tried the "Format" when composing an e mail with the same unsatisfactory result. It is set to New Times Roman however sends in a default font.

I only set the Latin dropdown to Other writing systems. Then it was necessary to reset all three to New Times Roman. Now that solved the problem. Good going, now the font to an e mail recipient is in New Times Roman. Way difficult, congratulations!

Please post two screenshots: one of the tools>composition panel showing your setting and one of the compose window that shows the font being used. Question to you: are you wanting the recipient to see that font, or are you wanting just yourself to see that font? Thunderbird can do either. Also, are you wanting the recipient to use your font size setting, or are you willing to let the recipients set their preferred font size? Again, there are choices, depending on whether the audience is you or the recipients.

Hi David and thanks so much for your interest. I have attached a screenshot for "Composition" under Tools and Composition under Account Settings. As you can see they are set for Times New Roman. My intent is to send my e mails in Times New Roman and that the receiver get them in that font. I have tried to send between my email accounts with them received in the default instead.

Please also post screenshot of the composition window, the one where you enter message.

Ok, attached is a copy of a message composed not yet sent. It shows the font selected but will change when sent to default.

This is what it appears when received. Wrong one!

I haven't received your test message yet, but I can see the problem: you have two fonts set: sans-serif and Times Roman, Since sans-serif comes first, that is the font that one sees on receipt. You might want to check the 'advanced' tab for fonts in tools>general to see what your font settings are there. I'm not sure, but that may be contributing.

Here is how I just set the Font and Encodings? Is latin and Serif or Sans Serif the right setting. Also I have checked the allow other fonts button. Not ok'd yet?

Serif is what you want. See the 'latin' at top of your screenshot? Click the drop-down menu and select 'other writing systems' and make it a DUPLICATE of the latin one. Exactly the same. Then click your compose window and see if it is still showing font as 'sans-serif,timesroman'. Serif, Times Roman is okay, although just TimesRoman is what you're wanting. That's what I get when I set compose font, and I'm hoping to work with your settings to figure where that 'sans-serif' was coming from.

Hooray! I'm glad all is well. I know it's difficult, but thunderbird offers more font options than other clients and that is one reason I like it.
