Why does clicking on the first drop-down option in the URL bar always take me to a Google Search?

1) Open Firefox 106.0.2 or higher (I'm on Windows 11) 2) Click anywhere on the URL bar and type the first letter of the website you want to visit. i.e. Youtube.com (Y) 3) Manually click on the link (first drop-down option) from the URL bar

The video shows me clicking on the first drop-down option in the URL bar. But clicking on it doesn't take me to Youtube.com, it takes me to a Google search for the term "y" instead.

Previously Firefox would immediately highlight the first URL drop-down option upon me typing in a single letter (i.e. y would immediately select the first option--Youtube, a site I frequently visit) and then all I'd have to do is press enter to go to Youtube.com

Now since Firefox won't auto-select the first option in the URL drop-down I have to manually select it, which is why I run into this issue. This almost always happens on a blank tab.

Why is Firefox doing this? Why won't manually clicking on the first drop-down for Youtube.com take me to the website?

In earlier versions, the wording "— Visit" would appear to the right of the domain in that first row when there is an autofill suggestion in the address bar, and the selection bar was blue (at least on lighter themes), so there were definitely changes.

But... did you test the Enter key? It is working for me when the top row has the dark background. How about on yours?

If you click one of the other items, does Firefox execute the action accurately? In other words, is the problem is only with the first row?

Thank you for the response. I think I need to wait at least 1-2 seconds before pressing the Enter key for Firefox to recognize the URL and take me there. Before I was pressing Enter immediately upon the URL bar showing up (as I always used to do) and it often takes me to a search for "y" now instead since Firefox didn't have time to recognize the URL or something? Even though the auto-fill is always there.

This issue only affects the first drop-down option. Everything underneath is fine. Clicking or pressing Enter takes me to the correct auto-filled URL for those entries.
