I use AOL web mail and cannot access my mail box since upgrading to Firefox 3.6.13

I am a long term user of both Firefox and AOL web mail. I can now load the une=secure front page of AOL but cannot access the pages of my mailbox. AOL's error message suggests adjusting the privacy setting of IE, which I'm not using, or checking that my firewall, which has never been a problem, does not exclude

  • "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Many thanks for your advice. I'm not sure whether or not it would have worked as the problem was solved either by AOL or by rebooting; I'm not sure which. Nonetheless, I really appreciated getting a reply so quickly.
