Why Yahoo Videos cannot be played in Firefox?
Error playing Yahoo videos Yahoo Video seriously struggles to load and give error every time I try to play. I have latest version of Adobe flash player installed and it works well for most of the other sites. So its a problem only related to Yahoo Videos site. Kindly do something on this. Thank you.

Any solution till now/
One main "trouble" with this Yahoo video playing problem is that it's been this way for many months AND across relatively many Mozilla Firefox versions.
Up until this day, Mozilla staff or service representatives keep repeating the mantra of at least eight to 10 items to test, try, change, restart in safe mode, send data to Mozilla, double check and test our systems, update drivers and plug-ins, etc.
This is and continues to be done over and over and over and over...
When all concerned already fully know it's not going to work, and it's not going to help anyone out.
IF, and this is only an if:
If Firefox can not play a certain video format or standard, perhaps one in constant use at outlets like Yahoo and perhaps others, then Mozilla should have very clearly and repeatedly if need-be, long since advised ALL Mozilla Firefox users.
To not do so is a grave non-service to those that have faithfully encouraged, actively supported Mozilla.org and the products, and been happily willing Mozilla evangelists.

Hi Joe, I realize troubleshooting is frustrating, but the problem is that Yahoo! videos play normally in Firefox for me and (it seems) other support volunteers. Without being able to put hands on a system with this problem and shake it down in person, I think we are stuck with the try this try that approach.
Troubleshooting is a way of technical life. Having been in technology and related research and writing fields since 1970, that's a given.
However, the quietness emanating from Mozilla.org on this and related browser issues tells us that it is exceedingly likely that FF 22, 23, and possibly the upcoming Beta have potentially serious problems when playing many videos on web-sites and pages.
The problems seemed to have manifested themselves most visibly with Yahoo's own videos, but now is being seen on more than a few other sites.
And it's been this way for quite a few months now.
Something's very wrong when this many users are having problems, and the problems are present on many different systems, hardware and so forth.
And a rather tremendous number of hours have been spent on near useless testing, safe modes, installing and de-installing plug-ins, testing of users settings, radical adjustments to FF's about:config areas, etc.
NONE of the above has helped. If other browsers do not have these problems, and FF does, there's something amiss in FF, indeed.

Which version of Firefox u r using/ Which is the OS/ Which java version/ which flash version/
Let us know so that we can try installing the same and check it. TY. CR.
In our case:
Windows 7 64bit on Intel i5 dual-core 8GB RAM platform, Nvidia video.
Firefox = Version 23.0.1
Java = Version 7 Update 25
Flash = Version 11.8.800.94
On Yahoo video problems, Java and Flash will usually have no bearing, as almost all Yahoo videos do not use Flash nor Java as the package.
Especially with Yahoo videos, JavaScript IS in use, but in FF, JavaScript capability comes as a part and parcel of Firefox.

I have the same problem, and I have tried all the troubleshooting and checked other support articles and users with similar problems, but still no luck.
All plugins are up to date. Internet Explorer plays all these files without any problem, so I know it has to be Firefox issue or bug.
For example, I cannot play this video on Firefox, but it plays on IE:
http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/open-road/top-five-sleeper-cars-video-205832307.html?vp=1
It's not only Yahoo video...
Another round of web-sites where Firefox 23.0.1 can not play the video:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-23792641
The BBC "waiting circle rotatory" displays, then the BBC reports the error.
The FF Error console reports:
EMP v.3.1.0.r749603_749269_749444_6
Playlist URL : http://playlists.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-23792641A/playlist.sxml Error code : CDNRedundancyManagerError [0] :
null
This appears to be a Flash file attempting to play.

maybe it's an issue with the protected mode in the flash plugin - you could try if disabling protected mode makes a difference.
and in this forum users found that their network settings had an influence on the flash playback failures: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1135752
Hi Joe, thanks for the message. My Flash player reports that same EMP number on the right-click menu. I didn't realize the Flash player could report to the console. (When searching for similar errors, some users mention copying that error from the right-click Flash menu.)
It's definitely worth investigating why the playlist file didn't load. If you click the link in the error message you posted, will the file load directly for you? If so, and you right-click and View Page Info, does it show the type as text/xml?
Appreciate the ideas, no go still, and the BBC says they have a "great number of complaints from Firefox browser users in the past approx 6 weeks...".
BBC techs feel it's in Firefox, Yahoo programmers feel it's in Firefox, etc.
Seems the only ones that do not feel it's in Firefox is Mozilla.org...or so it appears.

this is no matter of "feelings" - we don't speak for mozilla, we're just volunteering users trying to troubleshoot the issue. since the playback in the described cases doesn't fail universally it has to be some form of difference in the setup/configuration of firefox or the system or the connection - without understanding what those differences might be it will be hard to come up with a fix.
please file a bug with as much useful information as possible at bugzilla.mozilla.org, then it should get the attention of developers (as i've said before the only bug about playback issues at yahoo was marked as invalid, since the reporter himself found that an extension was involved).
Thanks philipp, tried your suggestions without no luck - Videos still don't play
josephrot, I'm able to play the BBC video you posted, it seems I just have issues with playing mostly Yahoo vids, already tried everything I could play around in Mozilla setting an updated all plugins, still the problem remains.
Mozilla mostly doesn't play videos with this type of player on Yahoo (IE plays it though without no error or problems, hopefully Mozilla is updated soon to fix these issues): http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/nightline-fix-abc-news/why-texas-bans-sale-tesla-cars-140842349.html?vp=1
Appreciate the kind reply...
RE The Flash test:
<< maybe it's an issue with the protected mode in the flash plugin - you could try if disabling protected mode makes a difference. >>
Fully tested the above every way from Sunday, and had no effect.
Problems remain same as before.
Joe
Problem solved! I downloaded and installed Firefox 24.0 Beta. Apparently Mozilla programming team made all the right changes in the new release. Now all videos starting working on Yahoo and BBC.
Will try and let u know. It will be good if this solves the problem for all the sites together.
Btw I tried playing the bbc site video, if asked me for proxy authentication of our server, once it was entered properly, it started working properly. so no issues.
Mostly Yahoo video site is not able to use the proxy with authentication server scheme in their videos. May be the option to use proxy settings does not exist in their programming.
IE may have that option by default that it takes its saved proxy settings without asking. Let me know if this makes sense.
Thank you.
Finally, success, so far...
With the downloading of FF 24.0...albeit still considered "beta", BOTH Yahoo video's and BBC video's stared playing again.
In an abundance of caution, we not only updated FF to 24.0, we triple-checked the firewall settings here -- no proxy's are in use, either -- and then re-booted the local machine (Win 7 64bit, Intel i5 dual-core based Asus)...and...
Taa-daa....BOTH Yahoo video's and BBC video's stared playing again. And so far have remained playing "normally" again.
Wonders never truly cease.
I downloaded the 24 beta version, installed it, restarted computer.
Still no luck. It is giving same message.
Below on the right hand corner it says 400-13 error. Anyone can help/
The 400-13 Error seen on webpages or websites usually means a network error, unspecified draft.
It used to or maybe still does generally mean that the page is "saying or calling for something" that Firefox can not understand.
