we installed a new EV cert from Equifax Geotrust and everything works fine in IE and Chrome but from FF the cert shows as untrusted.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?

When intermediate certificates are being used then make sure to install all intermediate certificates on the server.
Other browsers may retrieve them automatically, but Firefox needs them to be installed.
