Is there a way to get Lightning to send me an email reminder rather than a pop up?
The listed help information for solving this refers to a Tools/Options setting which doesn't exist in my Lightning. Using the Config option also doesn't list the calendar.itip.sendemail as an option to set. Is there a way for Lightning to send me emails instead of the default popup? Thanks, Curtis

Can you give us a link to the advice you have been following? I'm not familiar with that setting. It may well be that you need to create the setting from scratch, but you need to know exact details to do this.
There's a fundamental problem with what you want to do. Lightning will use Thunderbird to send the reminder. So when the time arrives, you need Lightning, Thunderbird and your computer running and connected to the internet in order to be able to mail you the reminder.
For myself, I use one central calendar and my various computers, laptops, phone and tablet all synchronise to it. Each runs its own calendar application and the one in use or to hand had a good chance of catching my attention at the appropriate time.
If you can't share a calendar in this way, then the usual way forward is to send an announcement of the event, (usually phrased as an invitation) and it's up to each party to add it to their own diary/calendar system.
There is a business opportunity here for a centralised service that emails on a schedule. I'm sure such a thing exists but I'd be unwilling to pay for it since there are already alternative solutions to this problem. And also bear in mind that email isn't real time and I'd be hesitant to rely on it for critical reminders.
See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configuring-lightning Thanks for your response.
My preference would be for Lightning just to send me emails in spite of the reservations you listed. Is there a mechanism to accomplish this?
It does say that these options have default values, and you need to know that a setting at its default value doesn't have (i.e. doesn't need) a config setting.
It also says that the calendar.itip.sendemail option is "Outdated. Pre 20080819 build" so I doubt it's of any use to you now. In any case, it probably toggles between on/off the option to send an email notification of the event being created, rather than an email message being sent in lieu of the pop-up notification.
By all means add the option if you feel so inclined. Right-click then new. It's probably a boolean, since its default is true, implying its alternative value would be false.
