I recently got a new pc in the office, and decided to reinstall Thunderbird on it. Sadly I forgot to port my profile, so I had to move all the settings over manually like here with the message filter.

I checked all the typing two times, but although they are identical on bot pc's the filters still work on my old thunderbird, but not on the freshly installed one. So I assume you have a bug with creating message filters on new pc's.

Here are the links to the screenshots, as your upload feature only keeps spinning after I select an image and doesn't do anything: http://imgur.com/a/HwSRp

Thanks, Rogier.

What information is logged in the filter log? It might give you some idea of what has occured.

If you have a filter above that 'newletters' filter in the list of filters? If yes, then it may be moving/filtering those emails under a different filter, hence the Newletters filter cannot locate anything, so it does nothing. The position of the filters in the filter list is also important.

You say you still have the old pc with Thunderbird. Did you try copy pasting the filters from older profile to newer profile?

On old computer: In thunderbird Help > TRoubleshooting Information click on 'show folder' close Thunderbird now click on 'Mail' folder to see pop mail accounts and Local Folders. clickon pop mail account name look for msgFilterRules.dat file.

Copy the msgFilterRules.dat file to eg: usb memory stick

Follow the same process on the new computer to access the profile folder. Remember to close Thunderbird. If you have already created filters in the new pc, suggest you just rename the existing file eg: 'msgFilterRules.dat.old' or 'XmsgFilterRules.dat', the if necessary you can easily rename to use again if required. then copy paste the msgFilterRules.dat file you got from the old pc.

Start Thunderbird.

Thanks for the workaround, only my smtp server had changed so I had to edit that manually in the .dat file.

Should I still file a bug for this somewhere?
