Does sync use one computer as a "master"

I have a desktop and three laptops, one of which is Ubuntu with a virtual machine for Windows. I consider the desktop to be the "master".

1. Sync is not picking up all the bookmarks from the desktop. like complete folders and it doesn't have all the links in some folders.

2. If I delete a bookmark (say) on one of the laptops, does that ultimately delete it from the desktop and other laptops through the sync process?

3. Is there any good documentation that really describes what sync does, not how it does it?

Hi

Firefox Sync works be sending time stamped packages of the data that you have selected to be included in Sync to a secure server which are then compared with other Sync instances you have (on other devices) then updated accordingly.

If you are updating bookmarks, it may take few Sync cycles to run to makes sure that each device is up to date as each time the device connects to the Sync account online, it will be trying to make sure that it has the most recent information.

With regards to documentation, I suggest these Knowledge Base articles.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.

From your answer, it seems that last action done will ultimately affect all the others.

i.e. If I delete a bookmark from one, it will propagate through all the computers and delete them also.

I tried reading the documentation, but it doesn't answer this type of question. Which I feel would help "us" understand how it works better.

Right now, one of the laptops looks a little bit similar to the desktop, but the others are miles away. Which seems to imply I need to force sync, but then that seems like it might destroy the "master".
