How to get emails forwarded without thunderbird being open?

I have thunderbird emails forwarded to another account that i use more frequently however the emails will not get forwarded unless thunderbird is open. Is there any way to have emails from thunderbird without thunderbird being open?

This is why you do the forwarding at your providers server.
I have yet to see any software that is not running do anything. Not going to happen.
Unless i am misunderstanding, Microsoft Outlook does this.
I have no idea who your email provider is. Whoever it is go to their webmail site and look for the option to forward your email.
