That is the best way actually.

Clear your cache and cookies for Both sites and restart Firefox. Will need to sign in again should have a feature from mail pages asking if want to remember, Shut Firefox down and restart to see.

There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate which would interfere with the login. Please update and check the forum of the above for fixes.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hi patsyv18, websites usually recognize you from a cookie they set. Often on the login page, it will have a checkbox where you can say you want to stay logged in, and then the site should set a cookie that doesn't expire for at least a week. I'm attaching a screenshot showing that checkbox for Outlook mail (I don't know about MSN).

If you check that box, and if you do not log out, then normally Firefox will hang onto that cookie and you can return to the site and it will recognize you.

There are many ways for this not to go according to plan:

  • Using a private window for Outlook, cookies are dumped when all the private windows are closed
  • Using session only cookies
  • Setting Firefox to clear cookies when it closes
  • Using an add-on that clears cookies
  • Using external software that cleans browser data

As a starting point, this article shows the cookie settings that give you the most compatibility with websites: Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them.

On the Options page, check the settings marked in the second attached screenshot:

(A) Cookie Lifetime

If you have "Keep until: they expire" then Firefox should retain the Outlook cookie. However, if you have "Keep until: I close Firefox" then the cookie will be removed. You can create an Exception to preserve your cookie (it's probably on the https://live.com/ server).

(B) Clearing history at shutdown

Avoid clearing history at shutdown or, if you need to use this feature, do not clear your cookies. This feature does not respect exceptions.
