How do I ensure that emails received by recipients with an @gmail.com account don't see the red question mark avatar? I understand that this means gmail cannot verify my identity.

Is this actually happening, or is this a hypothetical question?
The authenticating mechanisms are put in place by the server operators. I think it's fair to say that we mere end users have no say in the matter.
This is actually happening and there's not much documentation on how to solve it. Still investigating...
