How can I stop incoming e-mails automatically appearing in my reply?

When I reply to an incoming e-mail, Thunderbird automatically puts the incoming e-mail in the reply. How can I stop this?

Most of us actually prefer to quote the message we are replying to.

The settings for this are in Account Settings.
