2 accounts, one working, the other won't pull new messages (IMAP)
ver. 52.9.0 (64-bit) OSX
i have 2 accounts set up in thunderbird, both WERE working fine, now one account won't pull new messages
- tried repair folder
- tried deleting some email
- rebuilt global database
- no conflicts with antivirus
- full internet connectivity, etc (other account is still working fine)
- tried restart
- tried clearing recent history (though it's not used for chat etc...)
- deleted account, then added account it back in (password works, etc)
the problem account will not retrieve new messages and just spins like it's trying to do something (for days).
if i delete a message off the server that is showing in my inbox it will remove that message from my inbox in thunderbird (so there is SOME connectivity with this account)
just really stumped.
any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

well, whatever the issue was, it's remedied itself. thunderbird was going through a routine for literally days and it finally started working again today.

i believe there is something corrupt locally in the one account.
looks like it's about a 1/3 of the way recreating the "global-messages-db.sqlite" file (which i'm hoping was the culprit)

I'm now having this issue just today.
They're both Gmail accounts, and one is working perfectly but the other isn't. There's no excuse for this.
it's probably something corrupt locally in the one account. so search for your "profiles" folder, something is corrupt in there.
Deleted local profile files, didn't help. Uninstalled/reinstalled the entire program and it's still a problem.
Thunderbird is simply not working with that account and there's no good reason for it.
what OS are you running? The profiles i was referring to, is a folder on your hard drive, not the account/preferences within thunderbird. just deleting the settings within the thunderbird app & setting them back up will do nothing to fix the problem. If you do delete the "profiles" folder on your had drive and start thunderbird back up it will be as if you just installed it (no accounts setup and no mail in the accounts, like a new/fresh installation)
should be something like: *Hard Drive*/Users/*User Name*/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles
(items in itallic will be unique to your computer)
if on windows or if you have more questions about where the profiles folder is, see: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/.../profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data]
start with deleting "global-messages-db.sqlite" within your profile folder. this is the index of ALL your messages and can get corrupt.
- make sure thunderbird is not running - go to your profiles folder - delete "global-messages-db.sqlite" - empty trash - restart thunderbird thunderbird will have to read & re-index all the messages you have locally on your computer. this can take a LONG time depending on how long you keep your email on your computer.
if you are still having issues after everything has been re-indexed, then i'd say dump the whole "profiles" folder & set everything back up from scratch.
- make sure thunderbird is not running - go to your profiles folder - delete the entire "profiles" folder - empty trash - restart thunderbird you should be greeted with the welcome message like you never installed it before - set your account/s back up & wait for everything to re-sync that should fix anything that is corrupt locally (on your hard drive) because you deleted the folder where it stores everything
you also always have the web baed email (via a browser for gmail) which bypasses thunderbird altogether.

It is not likely to be corruption. First, try starting Windows in safe mode.
And it suddenly worked fine for about 2-3 days, and is now not working again.
Mozilla needs to get it together, this is obviously a problem with them, not my setup.
