How Do I Bring up the Page With Top Sites If it's not My Homepage?
Since changing my home page preference, I can find no icon or button to bring up the Top Sites. Nor can I find a way to customize the toolbar, to see if I can put a Top Sites icon on it! It only allows me to customize the bookmarks & "overflow" toolbar...

You can create a new bookmark on the Bookmarks Toolbar and set the location to about:newtab or to about:home to open the default Firefox Home page or open the about:newtab page and drag the tab to the Bookmarks Toolbar to create the bookmark.

That's a helpful workaround, I just wonder why Firefox doesn't have an icon on the toolbar for Top Sites, as some other browsers do, making workarounds, & the extra steps, like this necessary?
Also, why can't we have one site be assigned to Home icon, and something else (like the Top Sites) be opened when a new tab or window opens, as other browsers do? So there's two different ways they can simplify this, yet not either are options...

Did you overlook my post ?
There is an icon that will take you to the New Tab page with all your Top Sites .....
A new window opens with the homepage(s), so there is no easy workaround possible if you wouldn't set the home page to a blank page (you can use a bookmark and use Shift + left-click).
What is your new tab page setting if you prefer not to use the plus button? I prefer a blank page (I actually use about:about to be able to access other about pages easily).
