my history is wiped out, and so are my tabs, this happened after i enabled sync, and logged in i thought that this would append to my browser history and make the tabs available on other devices, however, by syncing and logging in, it had the exact opposite affect of not only not syncing, but deleting my history and not restoring my tabs on the original device

Hi hmazuji,

Did you create your Firefox account on the computer you lost you data on or on another computer or mobile device?

Sometimes, the reason the history and bookmarks seems to disappear from Firefoxs is that a new profile was created and all your history is stored in another profile. You can check information about existing profiles. Just type about:profiles into the Firefox address bar and press the Enter key. This will open the About Profiles page. Look at it and check if there are any profiles containing "default" in their name. You can launch different profiles or browse the information stored in each profile by clicking on Open Folder button. If you find the profile that has your old bookmarks and tab session you can move that information to a new profile (or your current profile).

To do the above you can study the following articles on support: 1) [[Recover user data missing after Firefox update|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-user-data-missing-after-firefox-update]] 2) [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles]] 3) [[Recovering important data from an old profile|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile#w_copying-files-between-profile-folders]]

Always remember to back up your data: [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles]]

You can check in Windows Explorer if there is a previous version of the places.sqlite and sessionstore.js files available.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

You can also look at this utility to browse System Restore points.
