Need a faster Firefox for slow PC, CPU intensive sites like Facebook are too slow.

I have a twin core 2.0GHz laptop with 8 GB RAM, and opening big groups in Facebook makes CPU stick to 100% and at times downloading the page is frozen. It takes anything from a minute to 3 to completely load such pages. I know Facebook is bloatware and I should get a faster laptop.

I have tried every solution here and elsewhere, if you did too and found something not already here please respond. Thank you.

Naturally, I'd recommend reviewing the Firefox uses too much memory or CPU resources - How to fix documentation to see if anything there helps improve performance. You can also use the Firefox Task Manager to see what add-ons and websites are causing the biggest performance impact.

You could also try tweaking some of Firefox's performance settings to see if you can get it running any better.

Unfortunately, if you are running on slow hardware, you are going to have a slow experience when visiting resource-heavy websites (like Facebook). In some cases, you may want to try loading the mobile website instead of the desktop version, for example m.facebook.com.

The mobile versions are intended to run on slower devices and use less network bandwidth. They are often lighter versions of the same websites.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I have already tried all of those. Unfortunately m.facebook.com is pretty unusable.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you may very much be at the mercy of your hardware. There are some websites that are insanely heavy on resources.

You can try running in Firefox Safe Mode to see if the performance is better there. If it runs better in that mode, your issue could be with hardware acceleration on your system.

Thanks but I already tried Safe Mode, same thing happens.

I sent a video of the performance of my CPU to a friend and he sent me his -showing the control panel CPU graph while loading the facebook group. The same page on his facebook loaded 50% faster, but he has a 3.5 GHz CPU and I only have 2 GHz.

Mine is stuck on 100% and surely this is the reason the page freezes (I have made the notification from Firefox to wait longer) and takes so long to load.

That's why I asked, maybe I missed something else on the internet or here that might speed things up.
