The master password request is delayed, about 15 seconds after the start of firefox. How to remove this delay so that the password master input request is executed immediately after the start or after 1-2 seconds?

Hi!

Deriving an answer from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1234277 you could make your Firefox to prompt you immediately if you set the home page to a website for which you have a saved password.

Please let us know if this solves your question.

Thanks!

This may solve my problem, but this solution is a "crutch". Maybe there is a parameter in "about: config" responsible for the delay in synchronization when the browser starts? After all, a request on a blank page was called for sync.

Firefox will ask for the MP when it wants (needs) to access the Password Manager. This can be for connecting to Sync or if you visit a website where you have stored a login or you register and create a new login. If you aren't using Sync and wouldn't visit a website with a login form then you might not see a MP prompt at all during a session. You can login manually to the Password Manager via Saved Logins or via "Security Devices -> Software Security Device -> Login". Via the latter you can logout as well.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security: Logins and Passwords: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"

I didn’t understand how it should help me. I am aware that the MP request arises when it is necessary to access passwords or sync, I wrote about this in the upcoming posts. I will describe the situation. I launch a browser and print a request or go to a site on which there are no saved logins. And at some point the MP request appears, this is due to synchronization. This interferes with at least the fact that I do not always notice this and I print part of the search query in the MP window. So if the password request after the start would be issued faster or immediately, I would enter the password or close the window if I do not need it.

Hello flussigkatz,

Seems to be not so unusual - in this article it says :

"Sometimes that master password prompt won't appear immediately. Give it time and it will "

In this Reddit thread they mention 10 to 20 seconds delay :

Not the answer you are waiting for, I know .....

Maybe wait a few seconds after starting Firefox to create idle time and make it possible for Firefox to finish some tasks to see whether this brings up the MP prompt sooner.

Are you using Sync?

Yes. I use sync. I'm afraid that I can’t wait for the browser to start for so long. For 15 seconds, just look through an empty window to close it, since I do not always need it. The delay is the same on my home and work machine (win 10, win 7).
